From a syntactic perspective, action verbs are those that take a subject and possibly one or more objects.
2. What are the action verbs in English?
The main action and movement verbs you need to know

to be late (was/were) = to be present.
to carry = to carry.
to catch (caught) = to catch.
to climb = to climb.
to come (came) = to come.
to end = to end.
to escape = to escape.
to fly (flew) = to fly.

When a person performs an action, that verb is called an action verb. When a person is not performing an action, that verb is called a state verb.
