Community Gardens
The ADEP community gardens serve as a place for education and awareness-raising about sustainable development.
Objectives / Activities
- create, strengthen bonds, eat, and grow organic produce.
- DIY, gardening, and learning.

Installation
The ADEP community gardens feature five large planting beds designed for the "sustainable development" education program for the residents of Roubaix.
We have noticed that our audience is unable to put what they have learned into practice because they lack the space needed to grow their own fruits and vegetables or raise chickens. Recent discussions with our audience indicate a need to highlight best practices in sustainable development, without necessarily requiring people to raise animals or have room for a compost bin at home.

When?
May 18, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
May 25, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

What do we want?
We aim to expand our ambitions and become a showcase for this initiative, which the city of Roubaix has been actively developing over the past few years. The site is perfectly suited to this purpose: a schoolyard that was paved over for decades and then torn up to become a place for community gathering and education on future climate change.

Sustainable development
To address this issue, ADEP aims to reorganize its community gardens so that the entire space can be used by and for the residents of Roubaix in an educational and recreational setting. A green oasis designed around a key principle: sustainable development.

The Creation of the Garden
The creation of the garden involved four or five weekends of community work open to everyone, where anyone could pitch in. The Maison du Jardin association, which already has experience with community projects, is familiar with the logistics of organizing such an event.
The association has completed the first phase of the garden’s development, and a second phase is now open!
Workshops may be canceled or rescheduled depending on the weather. We will keep you informed via email, our website, or our Facebook page. Please feel free to email us with any questions. Thank you for your support, and see you soon.
A community garden is a garden that is designed, built, and tended by a group of people. It offers everyone the opportunity to work toward a shared goal. It is a welcoming space for local residents.
Ideally, a community garden is a fulfilling place where everyone can grow through interaction with others while reconnecting with the cycles of nature, respect for the earth, and the importance of healthy, locally sourced, and environmentally friendly food.
Located in a former playground that has been transformed through community initiatives, the shared gardens of the ADEP (Association for the Development of Lifelong Learning) have helped promote sustainable development in the city.
